|Home | First Annual Quilter's Rule Tool Challenge
October 13, 2011
Quilter’s Rule is proud to support our men and women in uniform. This year we are doing so with a Tool Challenge created to increase awareness of Quilts of Valor. The challenge is in conjunction with Machine Quilting Today’s 2012 Upper MidWest Show in Oconomowoc, WI. The challenge is structured so the quilts will hang at the Upper MidWest Show and then travel for a year with Quilter’s Rule before being donated to our brave Service Members in August 2013 at the show.
This first challenge uses the Creative Curves Multi-Angle Tool. The tool is available at Creative Curves or at Quilter’s Rule email@example.com or at www.quiltersrule.com. You must use this tool to create your quilt. The Quilts of Valor pattern is sold separate from the tool. (Order below)
You also have the option of purchasing the Creative Curves Quilts of Valor Pattern on the right or using the tool to create your own unique blocks. Here are the complete rules and entry form for this challenge. [Download Challenge Rules Here] [Download Entry Form Here]
As owner of Quilter’s Rule and on behalf of our employees, I want to invite you to participate in this challenge. You and your quilt will get exposure in many venues to which Quilter’s Rule travels. I hope you enjoy this challenge and help us raise awareness of the work being done by the Quilts of Valor Foundation and the dedication of our brave service members.

Creative Curves Multi-Angle Tool
Pattern includes four (4) different star designs which can be put together as shown shown in sampler on left or each star can be used independently.
Pattern is used with the Multi-Angle, Wedge Ruler by Creative Curves.
The MULT-ANGLE, WEDGE RULER and SAMPLER PATTERN by CREATIVE CURVES is a completely different (non-curve) tool for quilters. It will allow you to make blocks and quilts that combine different Angles (wedges), they include the following Angles (degrees); 5, 9, 10, 15, 18, 20, 25, 30, 36, 40, 45, 50, and 60. What is unique to this new tool is the ability to first design an original block or quilt, then using a Chart that gives the size of rectangle or square to cut first, cut the triangles (2 identical triangles per rectangle or square) for the Angle that is desired. Finally using the 'Slots' on the MULT-ANGLE, WEDGE RULER, cut off the point of the triangles. This step turns the triangles into Wedges with the correct 'starting to sew' position and an exact 1/4" seam allowance.
*The SAMPLER PATTERN booklet that comes with each Ruler has 9 original Blocks plus an additional Pieced Square in the Border. In addition to the booklet of pattern, there is a page of Basic Instructions with extensive graphics showing 'how to' cut and sew with the Ruler and 2 Charts, one for Side Wedges and one for Corner Wedges. While each of the Blocks are 12" finished, the Charts give sizes to make from 2" to 18" finished Squares.
*NOTE: The Sampler pattern booklet that is included with the Multi-Angle Tool is not the same pattern as the Quilts of Valor pattern shown above.
